If the circus is coming to town and you paint a sign saying, "Circus is coming to Fairgrounds Sunday," that's Advertising. If you put the sign on the back of an elephant and walk him through town, that's a Promotion. If the elephant walks through the Mayor's flower bed, that's Publicity. If you can get the Mayor to laugh about it, that's Public Relations. And, If you planned the whole thing, that's Marketing!

Tip of the Week
BUSINESS CARDS...
Most if not all professionals carry business cards. They are the greatest and most cost-effective business tool; That is, if they are used propery.
Currently the majority of us find ourselves using them as scratch paper, writing notes on the back, or using them in a game of chance by throwing one in a fishbowl and hoping to get a "free lunch". This is wonderful if you are in a "business of chance", but let's face it...You are not.
Use your business cards to help make business. This means handing one out to everyone you meet while networking. Carry them with you, (preferably in a metal card holder so they dont frey at the edges or have creases) and diligently pass them out. Personalize them by writing your contact number or e-mail address on the back. Doing so builds a great level of rapport on quick terms. However, make sure only to do this while presenting the card. Do not have them done before hand...Remember, "Personalized".
Try to include a business card in your initial contact with a customer or client. Do not rely on the mailing letterhead to account for being your only soarce for contact. This allows the customer to file a card seperatly from the letter; making it more probable that they will be able to contact you, if the letter is lost.See full
